Baptist Bourbon - Elijah Craigh

While I was in NYC last week, a salesman told me a story so good I had to share it. He explained how he’d been in New Orleans on a business trip at the same time that Southern Baptists were holding a large convention in the city. Down on Bourbon Street, among the bars and the strip clubs, this salesman noticed a number of the Southern Baptist folks milling around and looking somewhat sheepish as if embarrassed to be seen in a place of such ill repute.

Poking his head into one of the bars, the salesman asked the bartender, “Have all these Baptists been good for business?”

The owner replied, “Are you kidding? Those folks came down here with two things: ten dollars and the Ten Commandments. And they ain’t breakin’ EITHER of ’em.”
